We do think that it wasn't very obvious, so we just pushed a hotfix where Del mentions being interrupted and not getting to eat, so it doesn't seem like a bug or unintentional. So, while you do get to interact with the inventory screen, you get taken away from it almost immediately because you have been interrupted, and get no time to eat.
